A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of shooting some promotional photos for this year’s Rock and Shop Market. The shoot was a blast, and I’m really happy I was able to help with such a great showcase of some of North Carolina’s finest artisans and crafters. This is only a handful of the people who will be featured in the Market, but it should whet your palate for what you’ll see and experience this December 17. Our wonderfully natural model, Whitney, is a double threat and also created the leather bags seen below.

Here’s a short blurb about this year’s Market…

“The Rock & Shop Market is a hip, juried craft show featuring over 100 curated emerging designers selling their handmade wares, plus a fashion show, live bands and food trucks. This year’s event will take place from 12-6pm at three locations that are across from one another in Durham, NC: Motorco Music Hall, Fullsteam Brewery & The Trotter Building. The bands that are playing this year’s event are The Small Ponds & Phil Cook & His Feat.”

All of these were shot with a Mamiya 645AF with a Sekor-C 80mm f/1.9 on Kodak Portra 400 and processed and scanned by Richard Photo Lab.

Hal and Katie : Wedding

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Hal and Katie literally tied-the-knot on a beautiful, foggy day at Crest Mountain just outside of Asheville, NC. They opted for a “First Look,” which I always love doing. This one was especially sweet being on the third-floor balcony of the condo where Katie got ready. The balcony overlooks Downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains in the distance. “First Looks” are a great way to relieve a little of the stress before you see each other down the aisle, and it means you can get many of your formal photos taken care of before the wedding! The rain held off just long enough to be able to have the ceremony in the planned, outdoor setting, and although the fog clouded the mountain views in the distance, it created a soft, dreamy, romantic feel for the nuptials. Katie looked stunning in her Ieie gown, and Hal was rather dapper with his custom-monogrammed tie. The festivities continued inside the pavilion, and the rest of the reception was a blast of a party! The night was wrapped up with a sparkler exit and a night on the town. I so enjoyed every minute of this day, and I’m really happy I was able to be a part of it. And now, on to the photos!

For anyone who might be curious/interested… This was all shot with a Mamiya 645AF, Canon 1V, and Pentax K1000 on Fuji Pro 400h, Kodak Portra 400, Kodak TMax 400, Kodak Tri-X 400, and Ilford Delta 3200, and developed and scanned by the wonderfully talented people at Richard Photo Lab.

Huge “Thanks” to John Robinson for making the trip with us down to Asheville to second-shoot! I loved having you along, and look forward to being able to do it again sometime.
